Invite in style

Throwing a birthday party and inviting your friends is a pleasure – and attractive, original invitations are part of it. The simplest route is to buy cards and choose from the countless motifs, picking one that matches the theme of the party or the person being celebrated.

If you like a consistent look, keep the card in the same style as the party decoration: the picture on the invitation then greets the guests again, larger, at the entrance, on the napkins and on the candle holders.

The second route is to make the invitations yourself. Use the computer for a funny photo montage with pictures of friends or snapshots from the last party – memories of a great evening make it hard to decline. Hand-painted cards in watercolour, acrylic or pastel are even more personal; just think about how many guests you have and how long the cards will take, and recruit a few friends to help if necessary.

Whatever the design, the essentials are the place, the date and the time.
